By using the ‘lost wax’ method and its high degree of dimensioning precision, complex medical cast pieces can be produced without post-processing. These components are generally cast in high-value steel alloys so that no corrosion can occur from contact with the human body. Depending on the application, the selected steel alloy must also be able to withstand high temperatures during sterilisation or high loads during use.
